At our new house we have a huge tree outside our deck that attracts a million box elder bugs. Luckily those bugs are probably the least scary out there. They are kind of like lady bugs but a little bigger. But they have somehow found a way inside our house and they are EVERYWHERE. Crawling on our ceiling, drowning in our kitchen sink, crawling across our screen while we are watching a movie at night. They are everywhere. It's so bad that when I catch one crawling up my arm while I'm eating breakfast I just flick it. I don't scream. I don't jump. I just simply flick it. The good news is they have a really short life span. I bought Payton a little Hoover vacuum and have taught her how to vacuum up the dead bugs every morning. She loves it. She also always points up to our ceiling and says "buuhh" Yes one of her first words is bug. How sad. That is what got me to finally call the bug man. There are so many things wrong with the house that the bug issue got pushed down on the priority list until my 14 month old learned the word bug.
The main reason for bringing up the bug issue is because Tyler's sleep talking episodes have been all about these annoying bugs. One specific night he kept muttering about a bug being in his ear and wanted me to help him get it out. I just thought he was sleep talking so I ignored him. Then 10 minutes later he stands up and yells at me because I didn't help him. He said "Courtney I could have died and you didn't even care. I'm not sleep talking and I really needed your help. What kind of wife are you?"
He really was sleep talking. He remembered nothing about it in the morning. These bugs have caused A LOT of drama in our house. But finally they are no longer in our house. It's only been 24 hours so we are hoping it lasts. We bug bombed the tree and resealed the French doors that we think they were coming through. We are crossing our fingers.
By the way our new deck is almost done. I'll have to post the before and after pictures soon. We LOVE it.
